Although not one of the most common fittings employed in fluid power applications, brass fittings are very helpful in corrosive environments for hydraulic and gas hose and conduit applications.

Hydraulic hose fittings are classified as either permanent or reusable. Permanent or crimped hydraulic fittings are widely used in the fluid power industry because they are easier and faster to connect than reusable fittings.Crimped fittings are also reliable. If you want to connect a crimped fitting, you may want to consider crimping or swaging the instrumentation. When the hose is assembled, these fittings are squeezed onto it and then discarded.

Reusable or field attachable hydraulic hose fittings aren’t normally used these days since they’re thought of as “old technology.” This reusable fitting is well known as a result of it fitting right onto a hose with the sole use of a wrench and a bench vise. Reusable fittings generally cost quite a bit more than crimped fittings and are less overwhelming throughout the assembly method.
